By car to the surroundings of Krkonoše Mountains
If the weather seems not to be the best you can set out to visit any of nature or historic sights in the surroundings. The following article gives some examples of interesting tourist destinations.
1. Špindlerův Mlýn
A visit of Špindlerův Mlýn. A stopover in Vrchlabí with a visit of the Krkonoše Mountains Museum. In summer there is the traditional Craftsmen´s Summer (every week several craftsmen show some traditional handicraft skills). Špindlerův Mlýn – a walk through the town, visit of the aquapark, a trip by the excursion train to Svatý Petr or over Bedřichov to Medvědín.
2. Harrachov
Sightseeing tour of Harrachov, visit of the second oldest glass factory in the Czech Republic that makes luxurious, cut, drink and decorative glass and chandeliers. You can visit the museum of glass with the largest collection of glass in the Czech Republic, walk to the ski-jump area and to the waterfall Mumlavský.
3. Castles Nové Město nad Metují, Náchod and Babiččino údolí
Nové Město nad Metují is 65km far from Pec pod Sněžkou, you can visit the castle in Nové Město, have a view from the castle tower, walk in the park, have a look at the town square, have something to eat. Another nice castle is in Náchod (9 km), some parts of the castle are even free accessible (park, tower, dungeon, lookout terrace), then you can go to Ratibořice (10 km) and visit Babiččino údolí.
4. Dvůr Králové and its surroundings
You can travel to Kuks (44 km) and visit the Hospital with the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum, walk through the natural park with a gallery of baroque sculptures called Braun´s Nativity.Not far from Kuks is the well-known ZOO Dvůr Králové. On the way back to Pec pod Sněžkou you can stop off near the charming dam lake Les Království.
